The poster for director William Friedkin’s Killer Joe is now online, and it appears to be in-keeping with the dark tone of the trailer, and presumably the film which has snagged a NC-17 rating in the US.
The thriller is something of a change of pace for star Matthew McConaughey, who has been riding the rom-com train for the last few years and it seems more like Bill Paxton’s gritty Frailty (you have to check that out), where he is subverting his nice guy image.
Friedkin may never have reclaimed the success of his 70s efforts like The Exorcist and The French Connection, but if this is half as good as reports are suggesting then it could be a hell of a ride.
Emile Hirsch, Thomas Haden Church and Juno Temple co-star in the film which opens in the UK on June 29th.
